House on Mango Street

The vignettes in the "House on Mango Street" seem disjointed and random at times. How does this style mimic the neighborhood where Esperanza lives?

The fact that some people see the author's use of vignettes as random or disjointed is a matter of opinion. The author chose to write a number of vignettes, which are short stories, rather than chapters..... in choosing this style, Ciscernos pulls is into the action, but does so in an easily understood manner. We live Esperanza's life through her...... we see the world through her eyes.
