3. What do the "three aunts" represent?

The "three aunts" are sisters. They are also Lucy and Rachel's relatives, who've come to show their respects at the funeral of the girls' baby sister. Cisneros uses the old aunts as an allusion to the Fates of Greek mythology...... the three old crones who know the fate of all human beings.
