Basically Washington’s Farewell Address had to do with the preservation of the Union as the core of American nationhood. He warned of factions within politics and the public that could fracture the country. He also preached about religion and morality as being the basis of American identity, "Of all the dispositions and habits which lead to political prosperity, Religion and morality are indispensable supports.”
