Why is mildred having such a hard time sitting and reading the books with montag? what does this tell us about her character?

Mildred is a product of her times. Her life revolves around telescreens that act out life for her. She is far more interested in constant and uninterrupted entertainment than a book...... you actually have to think in order to read a book!
