Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde

How might the murder of carew be more easily understood in light of the information the police gather

I know this question has already been asked, but I didn't quite understand the answer that was given. This is a question from my Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde Ch. 6 study guide. If you could keep the answer at a 7th grade level that would be great. Thanks.

The murder wasn't based upon theft, it was simply an act of evil. When the police gather their evidence, it is important to determine the motive for the crime. In this case, it was a cold-blooded murder..... there was no other reason.
