Why after Christian dies, is Cyrano's opportunity to tell her of his love "all gone"?

Christian is killed while Cyrano is speaking for him..... to say something would have tarmished the memory of his friend. Also, Roxane entered a covent in response to Christian's loss. She was in mourning.... to speak of his love at that time would have been inappropriate, even dishonorable.
