Hurston uses different colored bags as a metaphor to describe how people are. What point is she trying to make here?

i dont get this either, can anyone help?

In using this metaphor, Hurstan is making the point that we are all the same. It doesn't matter that we are different colors (bags), as we all all have the same things on the inside.... the bags might be different colors, but the items inside the bag are the same. This metaphor speaks to the fact that skin color makes no difference..... that human beings are essentially th same.
