Why does the blind man tell the narrator to close his eyes while he is drawing? What does he hope to teach him? What is the narrator able to "see" with his eyes shut that he cannot see with them open?

THe blind man seems to see another dimension that is invisible to seeing people. It is a place of space and time that the narrator can't explain but is just as profound as his wife's experience ten years before.
