Why does Huxley choose to have John's differing feelings followed or preceded by his reading of a specific Shakespeare play?

Reading Shakespeare was John's only vision of life that didn't include the reservation. His fantasies, his dreams of other places, were all born in Shakepeare's works. He didn't have experience, so he took the plays he'd read so often, and they were the link between himself and the world he now inhabited.
