Why do Ernesto's mother and her brother go to live with their sisters family?

The Galarza's lose their farm as a result of the revolution between the Mexican government and the working class. Because of the revolution, Ernesto's family had to give up farming and find work for pay. As a result, they went to live with her sister's family.
