Fortune is becomes a personification of some deity who hands out talents to people. Apparently, being women, Celia and Rosalind lack athletic ability. Celia laments that whoever "fortune" is did not hand out athletic and sporting traits to equally to women as to men. The subtext is that the fate of women lies in their traditional gender role.
