This was partly covered in your previous question. Courtly life is not all it's cracked up to be. Sure people enjoy luxury that 99.9 % of the population does not, but that comes at a price. There is scheming, backstabbing, and deceit that go along with courtly life. Duke Frederick has usurped his older brother's title and Oliver tries to get a gigantic wrestler to snap his little brother's neck. It isn't until the characters get into the forest of Arden when they begin to see truth in not only others but in themselves.
