This poem deals directly with the conflicts we have within ourselves. Each of us is a multifaceted human being. We have bodies and souls, and our physical beings often come into conflict with out spiritual beings. The poem depicts these facets as separate characters and illustrates their conflicts by way of a verbal exchange. Our bodies and souls are regularly forced to face off because their conflicts are inescapable. Our physical beings desire what our spiritual beings deny. Thus, their relationship is one of constant conflict. All in all, the poem presents a quandary..... what's more important? Our physical well being or our spiritual well being?
