I think the most difficuly aspects would have been the poor living conditions, lack of food and clothing, and lack of privacy. Those interened were most interested in survival. Their presence in the camp would also have put their identity in check. These Japanese Americans believed themselves to be Americans. Internment was sanctioned out of prejudice. Nothing was easy for the family.
