What causes the animals to finally rebel against Mr. Jones and his four farmhands?

The animals were roused to rebellion when Mr. Jones got drunk and neglected to feed them. The animals broke into the food sores and helped themselves. When Jones and his men came out to stop them, they proceeded to whip the animals for their behavior. In response, the animals fought back and drove the men away from the farm.
