In what three ways did Mr. Frederick prove himself to be enemy of the animals? What does that tell us about him being a complex character?

Frederick falsely negotiates with the animals for timber, all the while planning to overthrow the farm. This fact exposes that he is just as manipulative as the pigs... but they're better at it. Unfortunately, Napoleon does decide to sell the timber to Frederick, and Frederick does arrive armed and ready to overthrow the farm, getting as far as to destroy the windmill before being chased away.... he wasn't a friend after all, merely a deceitful, power hungry man.
