An Inspector Calls

remind yourself of the ending of the play from 'the telephone rings sharply.....' to '....the curtain falls.'

how do you respond to this as an ending to an inspector calls and how does priestley make you respond as you do by the ways he writes?

I love the ending of the play. Throughout all three acts we get an inside look at a very diverse set of characters, about whom we make some very interesting conclusions. In the final act, we additionally get to experience the glee of those who've been under intense interrogation, only to have the phone ring. Our imaginations allow us to envision what happens next, and our deductions write a new ending.
