As the two boys make their way back to the dorm room, they hear the distant sound of music a phonograph. How does the author use personification in his description of the phonograph?

As Gene and Finny head away from the river towards the dorm rooms the echo of the phonograph can be heard. Gene describes Finny's walk as a fluid rolling stream of movement. The music personifies Finny.

It says it grew more ambitious with the melody. Ambitious is giving it human qualities, personification.
