During the play, Ruth tells Travis they don’t have the money he needs for school. Walter is upset that Ruth tells him that. Should parents let their children know when they have money problems or not? Should Ruth and Walter have handled that differently?

This question calls for your opinion. There is no right or wrong answer. Parents sacrifice for their children all the time. Ruth was honest with Travis, and there's nothing wrong with honesty. Money problems affect on the entire family, and although I don't believe children need to know the details...... it doesn't hurt them to be made aware. Walter, on the other hand, was embarrassed by Ruth's truthfulness, thus, he gave Travis the money because his pride was hurt.
