A Long Way Gone

Many of Beahs friends return to soldiering after living at the rehabilitation center. Why do you think that happens? Is the anything that can be done?

Make sure to answer both questions clearly.......knowing which answer goes to which question...Thank you!

Their commanders had socially and emotionally indoctrinated Beah’s friends. The rehabilitation center could not simply pull these boys out of the headspace they were in. They also were addicted to the drugs and alcohol given to them by whatever outfit they were fighting for. I think trying to rehabilitate them so closely from what they knew was a problem. They needed to be farther away and helped by people who had once been child soldiers themselves.
