In Chapter Two, why does the narrator think it is important to mention that while in New York he still dreams of Sierra Leone?

In Chapter Two, it is important to note that Beah, who is living in New York, also continues to live in his recent past. His experiences Sierra Leone have not been set aside.... they have not been forgotten. Living in the United States does not eliminate his past..... because his past remains clear in his dreams and colors the future.
