A Doll's House

By the end of Act I, what do you know about the needs and desires of Nora? Helmer? Krogstad?

What do the characters want that are sinificant to the play?

In Act I, Nora is simply seen as wanting nothing more than material wealth. She believes that material wealth will render her “free from care,” allowing her not just to repay the debt but also to play with her children, keep the house beautifully, and do everything the way that Torvald likes.

Torvald wants everything to continue as usual. Her wants the woman who aims to please..... the woman at home making dinner, taking care of the kids, and always looking her best.

Krogstad wants to keep his job, and he's willing to do anything...... even blackmail Nora, to keep it.
