I think the whole idea of the dangers of rampant capitalism might appeal to Socialists and Marxists. Scrooge certainly demonstrated the "unfeeling" ethos of the "rich" towards the masses of poor people. In the end Scrooge decides to share his wealth which concludes the happy ending.
