Given what you learn about Sammy during the course of the story, what do you see as his primary motivation for quitting his job?

Sammy initially quits to impress the girls..... he wants them to see him as their hero. In the end, he leaves his job because to stay would mean that he didn't follow thorugh in his rebellion.
