What is Winston’s job at the Ministry of Truth? What does his job entail?

Winston works in the Records Department at the Ministry of Truth. His job is to rewrite articles and records to reflect that the Party is always correct and seen in a good light. Winston rewrites data and rectifies things so they reflect what the people have been told. When he's done, he submits the revisions as fact, and places all other documentation in a "memory hole" so it can be burned..... just as if it never existed.
