Chaper 16,page 163 and 164 ,when Ann Burden asked if Mr Loom was ever married ?

Then he grabbed Ann's hand and she felt embarrassed

Mr. Loomis is creepy. Almost everything about him is uncomfortable including grabbing Ann's head. He is unpredictable and rather crazy.
