I'm not sure what you mean by negative characteristics. Ann is still a teenager and is trying to survive in a post-apocalyptic world by herself when a strange man, Mr. Loomis, comes along. Ann is resourceful, determined and quite independent. She is surprisingly emotionally stable given that, as far as she knows, she is the only person left alive in the world. Ann really doesn't have any glaring negative characteristics.
