Widow Wycherly symbolizes vanity. Ostracized and the subject of scandal, the Widow thoughtlessly broke hearts and ruined her own reputation. Age hasn't rediced her vanity, as is evident in her blatantly flirtacious behavior after drinking the "rose" water.
