Heathcliff's quest for revenge had a destructive effect on Cathy. After Heathcliff's return on getting rich he found that Cathy had got married. He was devastated to see that but he could not harm Cathy so he started harming people around her, who, according to him were also responsible for Cathys decision to get married. He finished Cathy's brother and also tried to harm Cathy's husband by the way of seducing his sister and later leaving her with child. All this caused extreme mental pressure on Cathy and kiled her during child birth.

why he want to take the revange from linton family?
