At the end of the year, Auggie receives the Henry Ward Beecher medal. It recognises a student who has displayed courage, kindness, friendship, and character. Cite passages in the novel where Auggie exhibits each of these qualities. It is significant that Auggie poses for pictures with his friends at the graduation ceremony. What does this reflect about how much Auggie has changed?

Auggie had once said that he had an "aversion" to having his picture taken. He often ran away when it came to displaying himself, especially with "normal" people. Now Auggie is comfortable with attention and pictures! He also was used to isolation and now he has friends.
