Does August mind tha'ts he's "not an ordinary ten yeard old kid"?

The protagonist, August "Auggie" Pullman, begins by explaining that he knows he is not an ordinary ten-year-old kid. He was born with a facial deformity; consequently, other people always stare at him and make faces. He has accepted how he looks but it takes orthers longer to accept him.
