Mit-sah had noticed Lip-Lip's persecution of White Fang in the past. He didn't like Lip-Lip but he Lip-Lip had been another man's dog. Now that Lip-Lip was his dog he put him as head of the pack. This was not an honor because the other dog's despised him.
