Initially, before White Fang trusted him, he feared Weedon Scott would beat him,

He mostly feared his touch. Scott, however, soon taught him that not all touch meant pain. He was very patient with the old dog, despite all of its stubbornness, and eventually managed to gain White Fangs trust through loving words, soft touch, and patience.
