The peculiarity is that racoons have a penchant for shiny objects. Grandpa’s plan is to bore a hole in the end of a log and put a shiny piece of tin inside the hole, then hammer nails at angles so that the raccoon can stick its paw in and grab the tin and subsequently catch its nails under the tin.
