Where Are You Going, Where Have You Been?

Where are you going, Where have you been?

How is Connie characterized in the fist few pages of the story, and how is this characterization important in the events that follow?

Connie is coming of age. She is interested and confused by boys. Connie is an adolescent girl who lacks grounding and judgment. She is easily manipulated by "smooth talkers" like Arnold Friend.
