Where Are You Going, Where Have You Been?

Many critical articles see “Where Are You Going, Where Have You Been?” as heavily symbolic, even allegorical, with elements of myth, dream, and fairy tale woven throughout. How does Arnold confuse it?

Arnold can't be pigeon holed into a specific category. His appearance, actions, and true identity are never apparent. Thus, he serves to confuse the lines between what is real and what's not.
