Not the best investment
The morning when Eva found out that someone had poured paint on her front door, she couldn’t help but notice that it was enamel paint. Unlike latex, it was not water-soluble. Not to mention, that it costed more than latex one. Eva noticed that “someone made a serious investment”. The irony of her thought is that buying an expensive kind of a paint in order to pour it on a neighbor’s door could hardly be considered as a wise way to spend money.
A valuable commodity
After the fatal Thursday, Eva became “a treasured commodity” in her office. Unfortunately, it had nothing to do with her work and achievements. The irony of that situation was in the fact that her colleagues finally received food for gossips, something they could tell their relatives and friends, something that could give them a chance to be in the center of everyone’s attention during various social gatherings.
Thinking about future
Eva sets a deadline. If she fails to get pregnant by the time she is thirty-seven, then she will quit trying. The main reason of that decision is that they don’t want a child “who could be still living at home in our sixties”. The irony is that they don’t have a child yet but they already wait for a day when he or she can move out.
