briefly explain the relevance of the quote as it relates to Thoreau’s philosophy.

Thoreau felt that beauty was not to be found playing Nintendo Wii (yes I know they didn't have that back then but it's my metaphor). He felt that beauty could only be found in the ruggedness of nature and the simple rhythms of nature's energy. That pretty much meant rising at 5:00 am and doing the nature thing every day.
