Celia is saddened, frightened and disgusted by the fact her husband has offered her to Volpone for sexual pleasure. She refuses, her husband (Corvino) threatens to flay or hand her, and she's given reprieve by the fact that Volpone is too drunk to take advantage of her anyway. None-the-less, he still has the gumption to question why she isn't happy (drooping).
