Booker T. Washington is a slave among slaves, yet he is not bitter, nor dejected. Why do you think this happens?

Booker T. Washington took every opportunity afforded him, and used his strength and education to work for all slaves. In my opinion, his strength of character enabled him to move beyond the bitterness in order to create something.... bitterness is destructive, Washington wanted to build on his experience.... not dwell upon it.
