The protagonist of the Untouchable is eighteen year old, Bakha. He has big dreams, but he also has no way of attaining his dreams....... thus, he is humiliated by the fact he has to beg for food. Bakha is a hard worker and described as "strong and able-bodied," but he is emotionally weak.
