The Turn of the Screw by Henry James

Hello everybody!
Could somebody help me to answer two questions concerning the ghost story "the turn of the screw by Henry James", please?

Do you think that the tale may satisfy some deep-seated human needs? What?

thank you in advance

One of the major human needs the tale pursues is the desire to clear one's name - or specifically, the desire of Douglass to clear the Governess' name. Douglas is clearly trying to prove the Governess' innocence by using the idea of a ghost story to cover up what may in fact be her madness.
