Why did Morrie cry when referrinh to his mother

Morrie received a telegram notice that announced she had died.His father could not read so he had to read it. Morrie also felt guilty that he did not get his mother medicine when she was sick. He thought he could just pretend that she was not ill. Morrie was filled with guilt and loneliness after his mother's death.
