Mitch learns that newspaper coverage and gossip permeate our culture and distract people from the things that are really important, that people's lives become meaningless by immersing themselves in things that are inconsequential.

When Mitch gets home from business in London he discovers he no longer has a job, but rather than focusing on the negatives he chooses to make positive changes in his own life and do something worthwhile for humanity. He begins with the decision that "work" will no longer dictate his life.
