What changes in the setting took place in this chapter and How does this change affect the story?

They trek through the hot and humid countryside to get to Tuck's house. They see a cool pond and jump in. Winnie finds that, although a little messy, the new setting is wondrous and strange. I think this sets a similar tone for the rest of the novel.
