What is the central theme of the poem "A Cooking Egg" by T.S. Eliot?

The protagonist of this poem recognizes the beauty and splendor of the past, but finds himself unable to live in the present. He can no longer be the innocent child he was in the past; he can recognize the tragedy of modern life, but he cannot do anything to help the tragedy.
