Actually the epigraph is in Greek and Latin. It refers to an old text called Petronius' "Satyricon." This relates the Ancient Greek oracle, Cumaean Sibyl, who was granted immortality by Apollo which she comes to regret. This relates to the rotting of the Western world which has outlived its use.
