Trifles

what do you think he means by this remark?

the county attorney feels he needs a clear ''reason,'' or motive, for the murder because ''you know juries when it comes to women.''

This is a patriarchal world. The concerns of women are dismissed by the men as "trifles". The remark is insinuating that juries (of men) understand the female psyche and that there has to be some emotional reason behind the murder.
