Q2: Search for role models is one of the recurring themes of the novel. In your opinion, who best served as an inspiration for Jim Hawkings? In my opinion, Silver was Jim's role model, as well as his inspiration. Dr. Livesey and Squire Trelawney are admirable characters.... Jim respects and admires them, but they do not inspire him. Silver has a quick mind... he is always thinking, planning his next move, and ready to take chances. All of these things capture Jim's attention, and as a result, we see Jim taking chances and facing challenges in ways he would not otherwise have attempted.
