Does the story end the way you expected?? Why?

I love the ending because it has such a great moral lesson. When Jim reflects on the money and wealth he's acquired, as young as he is....... he also reflects on the cost. He doesn't see the money for what it can give him, but rather the lives that were lost in acquiring it. Jim has experienced the effects of money, and the way it can corrupt even the best of men.
